This past year, 2003 was the 10th anniversary of our very first-ever homebred champion, Ch. Chambrays Russell in 1993. Since that time we have finished a total of 15 more homebred champions and titled 3 others that came from other kennels. This accomplishment is a state record for owner-handled, bred-by champions from any breeder in Florida.

2003 was indeed a very special year for Chambray Labradors and all the co-owners and partners that contribute greatly to our combined successes in the conformation ring. This past year we saw 2 new champions in Ch Chambrays Twist of Fate (Karley) and AM & INT Ch. Chambrays Chance N Counter CGC become the 14th and 15th homebred champions from our kennel.

Another extraordinary accomplishment for 2003 was the unbelievable winning streak of winning points or Best of Breeds at every weekend of shows, with the exception of one weekend.

We would like to thank and congratulate the following co-owners and partners for the wins and accomplishments by their dogs to help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first-ever homebred champion.

Ch Chambrays Twist of Fate co-owned with Roberta Walach. In 2003, Karley wins at 4 different shows Winners Bitch and the 1 major to finish her title in August. She racks up 4 Best of Breeds as a “Specials” against some of the top Labradors in the country, including a very impressive win over the #1 ranked Labrador, plus a Group 4 in the Sporting Groups. Roberta Walach, Sandy Herzon and Jessica Herzon teamed-handled Karley to her AKC championship.

AM  & INT Ch Chambrays Chance N Counter CGC and Jessie Herzon team up in 2003 to win 5 Winners Bitch including a 5-point major the weekend of the SFLRC Specialty, plus a Best of Breed on her way to her AKC champion’s title. She also earns the 3 breed conformation certificates to earn her UCI International Champion title at the Orlando shows.

Am/Int Ch Carmays Ruff Around The Edges CGC (Mr. Boo) Mr. Boo is co-owned with Carmay Labradors and came to us with 1 point in August 2003 for us to development and handle. In less than 4 months in our conditioning, training and handling program, he was to attain his International UCI title, including a UCI Best of Breed. He also passes the CGC test and attained his Canine Good Citizen title plus he won 12 AKC points and a 5-point major to boot. He was to finish his AKC champion’s title by winning a 4-point major on January 2nd 2004.

Chambrays Moon Over Maya (9 Points). Co-owned with Cindy Ceballos and Grace Escalona, in limited showing out of the American Bred Class in 2003, Maya wins 4 Winners Bitch for total of 9 Points toward her championship. She will now compete in the Open Class as her half-sisters, Connie and Karley have moved on with their titles and have made room for her in this very competitive class. She now needs the 2 majors to finish her title.

Chambrays Right On Target (9 Points) (Dakota). Co-owned with Cindy Ceballos, with Jessie handling, Dakota wins 4 Winners Dog for 9 points from the Open Class in 2003. He now needs the 2 majors to finish his title.

Chambrays Mad About Madeline CGC (9 Points) owned by Rosy Harkow wins 3 Winners Bitch plus a Best of Breed and Group 2 in 2003 with Pino Renzuli handling. She now needs the 2 majors to finish her title.

Am & Int. Ch Surry’s Obscured By Clouds. Bella is owned by Geraldo De Souza of WinQuest Labradors and Elizabeth Wenner of Surry Labradors. Under our training and handling Bella wins 6 points and 1 Major and then is handled by Ron Hahn to her remaining points to finish her AKC title. After attaining her AKC title she was to come back to our handling program and win her UCI International title at the Orlando cluster of UCI shows in October 2003.

Last but not least, is our daughter Jessica Herzon who has become such an integral member of our training and handling team. She finishes the 2003 year in the Pedigree Rankings #3 Open Junior Handler in the country, she titles her dog Connie to her championship winning a Best of Breed with her, she wins 5 points and 2 Best of Breeds with Karley, 9 points on Dakota, a 5-Point Major and a 4-point major with Mr. Boo and his UCI International Champion title at Orlando, plus his CGC title. She also puts points on a Shar Pei,  a Pointer,  a Clumber Spaniel, several Best of Opposites on a Chow special. Quite a year for a 14-year old.

Yes, 2003 indeed was a splendid year for Chambray Labradors, a great way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our very first home-bred champion.
