Chambray Labradors Owner’s Manual 301 · Harvesting The Fruit Of The Vine · From 2 Year’s On
The Fruit Of The Vine From the earliest of times our civilization has been totally built on the premise of sowing, then cultivating to create a bountiful harvest that the many can partake in. Without that broad reaching concept, the now 7 billion-strong inhabitants of the 3rd planet from the sun would have surely decimated the entire planet’s natural occurring resources!
Maximizing those resources by utilizing the cooperativeness of our species has ensured that there will be those resources for generations to come………or so we hope.
As with all successful cooperative ventures, Chambray Labradors Owners Community was built on the exact same premise of sowing, cultivating and harvesting that fruit of the vine that comes with the toil of a far reaching collective program.
By creating a network of owners that have benefited from the collective successes of previous harvests, they in turn would then participate in the next sowing so that there could be a next harvest for themselves and others that would join in as new owners.
In the dog fancy, there is an accepted time period that it takes to become a successful breeder. It is a nebulous stretch that may span 7 to 12 years of actually breeding dogs before someone really produces anything of real value to the top echelons of quality. Years and years of trial and error, mistakes and wrong paths taken, before a semblance of light emerges at the end of the proverbial tunnel for those neophytes that are relatively in limbo for many, many years before they actually “get it” and thus are truly able to contribute to the betterment of the breed on a continuous basis.
The vast majority of new-comers spend an inordinate amount of time in the learning process, a very slow climbing learning curve with much wasted time, energy, money and worst of all a mistake-filled period producing lesser than expected quality litter after litter.
However, with the Labrador Owners Community in action, that time-honored “in limbo” period has been in most cases totally eliminated! Very little wasted energy and time for those that came on board and benefited from the bountiful harvests that have followed each and every year of our planting and cultivating.
We can document case after case starting as far back as 1991 when the first thought waves of “placing the best with the best” occurred. When there was a realization that keeping the best from every litter would soon over populate Chambray Acres and the capacity to actually do the best with each puppy kept would not be in their best interest.
Although it would take us 6 years (1986 to 1992) with breeding show dogs to actually champion a dog that we had bought……..one of a dozen or so that we had invested in for show; then it would be another year (1993) before one of our own bred-by dogs would finish out their AKC championship………………through the “place the best with the best” we would be able to take brand new owners to the promise land with their first-ever show dog and help them avoid the doldrums, years of negative growth and more oft-filled faux pas periods.
In addition, through our Partners Program for breeding, there would be numerous owners that would be breeders of champions with their very first litter bred! There were those like Joe Gonzalez who joined Chambray in 1990, the first of the co-owners and later co-breeders. Joe would be the proud owner of Am/Can Ch Grandquest Chambray Slapshot, a co-owned and co-developed dog that would be instrumental as a great producing stud dog for our breeding program. Joe would also co-own and co-breed his 2nd acquired Chambray dog, Ch Chambrays Penalty Shot.
There would be the Mc Gown family in 1990 with their first-ever show puppy, which grew up to become Ch Chambrays Indian Summer. By participating in our breeding management program, Summer’s first and only litter produced Ch Chambrays Caleb, so the Mc Gowns first dog was an AKC champion and from their co-bred litter with Chambray, they became the breeders of champions!
There was Julie Dweck in 1991 with her first Chambray dog, Chambrays Princess. Together from Princess’s first co-bred litter another Chambray champion would emerge, Ch Chambrays Colombo.
The Senra family would be the owners of one of Ch Chambrays Indian Summer’s puppies. Through the amenities offered at Chambray Labradors, that dog would excel at the dog shows and later produce 1 co-bred litter for the betterment of the breed producing Am/Int Ch Chambrays Chisholm Chancey, making the Senra family the breeders of champions.
Chancey’s successes are documented through the Chambray website. Here we have Martha Chisholm, a brand new owner into the world of show dogs with her very first dog. Through the Labrador Owners Community vast offerings, that dog would become an AKC champion in record time making Martha Chisholm the owner of 2 champions (she kept Ch Chambrays Chisholm Lance from Chancey’s 2nd litter) and the breeder of 4 champions from 2 co-owned and co-bred litters.
Chancey’s first litter produced 3 puppies and all 3 ascended to their AKC championship for their novice owners. Each of those dogs would shorten the learning curve for their owners by years and years and give each of them a fantastic head start in the breeding world as well. Those 3 dogs would become Am/Int Ch Chambrays Twist Of Fate owned by Roberta Wallach, Am/Int Ch Chambrays Mad About Madeline (Maddie) owned by Rosy Harkow and BISP Am Ch/Int Ch Chambrays Chance N Counter (Connie) owned by Jessica Herzon. Two of those 2 dogs Connie & Maddie would then themselves produce an astonishing 7 AKC champions with 4 AKC Grand Champions and 2 AKC Bronze Grand Champions for their owners!!!!!
The documentation with case after case could continue with success story after success story for each of the new owners that came on board and took advantage of the highest quality being produced, the mentoring with the vast amenities and offerings provided by Chambray Labradors. Each and every one of the preceding and the following owners would assuredly benefit from not going through years and years of lost time, energy and investment with the traditionally-honored “time in limbo” period. All exceptionally succeeding in the dog show world with a top quality Chambray dog; that dog becoming their first-ever AKC champion!!!!! Besides the previous mentioned folk with their first-ever AKC champion, the following would also savor the thrill of their 1st champion as well. Here is a listing of the Florida state record champions produced and the owners that benefited from our Selective Puppy Placement Program, our Mentoring Program, our Training & Conditioning Program, and our Professional Handling Program. Some of these folk would also be selected to participate in the betterment of the breed by working together with Chambray in producing the next generation of superior quality dogs and future champions.
