The Zeus Puppies, How The Placement Process Will Work |
|
The results of introducing Grn Ch/Can Ch Gingerbred Celestial Thunder “Zeus” to Chambray Labradors breeding program is now history, having produced Florida’s first-ever female Best In Show champion in BIS Grand Champion Chambrays Celestial N Counter “Kika” from the first litter back in January of 2011.

That first litter to Zeus was with AKC Ch-Pt/Int Ch Chambrays Eloquent N Counter “Ellie”. Ellie is a combination of the long established Chambray lines dating back to the foundation bitch Beaver Creeks Crystal Chambray with an outcross to the Langshotts Gale Force From Kimvalley “Garry” lines brought through a grandson, BIS Ch Chambrays Out Of The Ruff ‘Hogan”.

Now we once we again team up a full sister to Ellie, AKC Ch-Pt/Int Ch/UKC Ch Chambrays Stella’s Desire with Zeus, producing an all yellow litter of 5 males and 2 females. In addition a 2nd breeding was performed by teaming up another Hogan daughter, AKC Ch-Pt/Int Ch/UKC Ch WinQuest Chambrays Charming Lily. Lily’s mother is WinQuest French Toast who is also the dam of the newest Chambray champion, AKC Ch/Int BIS Ch WinQuest Chambrays Reaching For The Stars “Jake”. This all yellow litter between Zeus and Lily produced 8 females and 1 male.

Both of these litters were born on May 25th, 2012 and will be ready to go to their new homes by July 20th or so. Much will happen before then, of course the
The culmination of all of the above plus the years of planning and later executing the breeding will all come to a highly anticipated crescendo with the placement of each puppy!
The entire future of the breeding program for the betterment of the breed will rest completely on the correct placement of each show potential puppy.
Unlike the rest of the show breeders in the country that Keep The Best and Sell The Rest, at Chambray Labradors we select owners for our top show puppies that will work with us in the future and we place those exceptional puppies with those that aspire to breed and show and work towards the betterment of the breed.
For the next 6 weeks, the interview process will reach a feverish pitch by the time the litters are 7 weeks old and ready for the final, highly anticipated conformation evaluation. Once that arduous process is completed, then the placement process begins……matching up those puppies that rated out as show quality with those discerning clients that have been patiently waiting for the right placement.
Those on the Reservation Waiting list the longest will obviously get the most consideration as will those that have had some experience with showing dogs already, however so will those that are new to the fancy just as was Juan and Olga Marrero (owners of Kika) 18 months ago when we were going through the exact same process that the 1st Zeus litter with Ellie received.
Today Juan and Olga are the proud owners of the only Labrador Retriever to win a Best In Show in the entire country since the opening date of the 2012 Eukanuba Championship period that starts on October 12th, 2011 and last until October 11th, 2012.
The careful scrutiny that allowed Chambray Labradors to place the highest rated 7-week old puppy.........ever.......... has paid off for both the new owners and for Chambray Labradors mission of breeding and placing for the Betterment of the Breed program. Today (June 11th 2012) , that puppy is 17 months old, an AKC Champion, an AKC Grand Champion and the only Best In Show winning female Labrador in Florida, plus the only Best In Show Labrador in the country since October 12, 2011.
