Dakota's Win Creates A 3-Way Race For The Next Chambray Champion

The October 9th and 10th 2004, Deland Dog Shows served as major relief from all the stress and anguish that the recent rash of hurricanes brought to Florida. Although much of central Florida is still under emergency orders, the show itself was the first normal weekend for the dog show aficionados.

For Chambray Labradors and the Herzon family, it was getting back to normal also, as our usual agenda and way of life, not to mention making a living had been put to a halt for 6 long agonizing weekends due to the harsh weather suffered by all in the state.

Int Ch. Chambrays Right On Target's (Dakota) Winners Dog award and Best of Winners for a 3-point major win would provide the spark needed to rekindle the excitement that has become a tradition for our winning program at the Florida dog shows.

Dakota's major gives him 16 points and 1 major and now creates a tremendous crescendo for the remaining 2004 dog shows, as now we have 3 dogs that could very well become the next  Chambray champion, in fact they all could "finish" their titles and add to the state record of 16 home-bred, owner/handled champions from Florida.

Joining Dakota in the 3-dog race are Int. Ch Chambrays Moon Over Maya with 13 points and 1 major and Chambrays Chisholm's Sir Lancelot CGC with 12 points and 3 majors. Dakota and Maya would each need a major pointed win to earn their AKC's champion title and Lancelot just needs 3 single points to finish.

The Ocala dog shows on November 6th and 7th will provide the venue for all 3 dogs to compete, giving each the opportunity of 2 shows to earn the remaining points and the first to do so will become the 17th Chambray champion, of course it would just be peachy keen if numbers 18 and 19 were to follow all on the same weekend!

Lance was the first to title on December 4th 2004, making him #17. Maya was the second to finish on March 12th, 2005 and her brother would title the very next day on March 13th, making them the 18th and 19th home-bred champion from Chambray Labradors.
