1. Yes, all our puppies come with AKC Puppy Registration papers. We also have our dogs registered with the UCI International organization, in order to show outside the country. I understand that there are numerous registry services offering certificates for litters that can not be registered with the AKC. There are also a couple of legitimate, alternate registries that offer obedience, agility, field, herding, conformation and other breed-related events. The value of "registration papers" are only worth what the registering organization's merits are and the value to the breeds they represent. Back to Q1

2. We breed exclusively for show purposes. All our litters are planned to produce the next generation of show puppies. Those puppies are sold with Full, Open registration as "SHOW POTENTIAL" from between $1500 to $1800 plus stud services back from the males and $1500/$1800 for females puppies with 1 puppy back from a future litter. These Show Potential puppies come with the most extensive Puppy Package ever offered by a breeder. Click the following hyperlink to read up on the Show Potential Package offered by Chambray Labradors. Puppy Placement Program
Those puppies from a show litter that do not have the potential to be competitive in the show ring are sold with the AKC's Limited Registration for $1250/$1500. They also come with a limited owners package, also listed at the previous hyper linked page. Back to Q2

3. All puppies that have show potential are sold with an Open, Unlimited Registration and we stand behind each and every puppy sold as Show Potential. For more information on our Show Guarantee, email us at labs@chambraylabradors.com . Puppies that don't have the competitive nature for the conformation ring, will be placed with the AKC's Limited Registration, however we also back these puppies with amenities, guarantees and training packages not found anywhere else. Back to Q3

4. Yes, all our puppies come with extensive guarantees. Please click on the following hyperlink to read in detail about  those guarantees. They are provided online for all to see and keep as records.  Guarantees  Back to Q4

5. We have shipped to many states and to foreign countries. All puppies shipped are 2 months of age and have had all the appropriates vet. exam and vaccinations. Back to Q5

6. I obtained my first Labrador Retriever back in 1969 and had my first litter in 1973. 35 years later the passion and love for the breed glows brightly, as my entire life is devoted to all aspects of the breed, from raising the occasional litter to training hundreds of Labradors a year. Today, we have the distinction of being the #1 breeder of owner/handled champions from the state of Florida. Back to Q6

7. Since 1973, I have had about 50 litters of Labrador puppies or about an average of less than 2 per year. Since 1998, we have had 13 litters with that many champions produced in the same time period. Today, together with the Partners Program which encompasses about 20 co-breeders, owners and exhibitors, we are averaging 3 litters a year.

8. There are thousands of Labrador Breeders across the country. A search on Google or any other search engine will bring up an endless array of kennel names bearing "Labradors" as the suffix. Among those countless names are all types of people breeding for all types of reasons. The quality (or lack of) of puppies is as endless as the names advertising themselves as Labrador breeders. At my training facility, I see the results of buying puppies based on the "lowest price" that the buyer could find. It is sometimes sad to see these puppies grow up with all kinds of conformational deviations, not to mention the physical problems encountered when breeders have no regards for conformational quality, clearances and temperament in their pursuit for monetary gains. The prospective puppy buyer should not use the criteria of price as the determining factor of whom they buy the puppy from. The prospective puppy buyer should demand to see OFA and eye clearances of the puppy's parents, they should demand to have written guarantees to cover any health or genetic problems that might be encountered as the puppy grows. Yes, there are differences in the prices that breeders charge for their puppies, but as the old saying goes, "In the end, you get what you pay for" Back to Q8

9. In every competitive endeavor there is a #1, that is the nature of competition, you have winners and you have losers. In baseball, the slugger that belts out the most homeruns in a year is the "home run king". In football, the runner that that rushes for the most yardage in a year is the Top Rusher.  For dog breeders, the one with the most home-bred champions is the Top Breeder, the one with the Top Labrador could also claim Top Status, the one that wins the most Best of Breeds can justify the claim, the one that wins the most at the dog shows might also lay claim to Top Breeder. In Florida, Chambray Labradors is all of the preceding. Anyone can claim anything, proving the claims is another thing. Our motto is "SUCCESS IS MEASURED BY RESULTS" and we document each and every claim with verifiable statistics.

In Florida, Chambray Labradors is the #1 Breeder of Owner/Handled Home-Bred Champions with 17 AKC champions and 22 International champions. No other breeder has bred more champions than our kennel, meet our champions at Wall of Champions
.

Another criteria that might be used to indicate the ranking of a breeder at the dog shows, might be the ranking of their dogs.

#1 Labrador In Breed From Florida For the 2004 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Invitational Am/Nat Ch Chambrays Twist of Fate is the #1 Labrador from the state of Florida, another #1 ranking for Chambray.

#1 Labrador In Sporting Groups From Florida  The DOG NEWS Top Ten Rankings for the Sporting Groups, Am/Int Ch Chambrays Mad About CGC  is ranked #11 in the country and #1 in Florida, yet another 1st.

10. This is a major bench mark question from hundreds of emails that I receive. Most of those asking feel that the number of champions, somehow defines the quality of the dogs produced. Well, for the record, there have been 19 home-bred Chambray champions, plus another 6 Labs that were bought or were accepted into the handling programs that have been titled by Chambray. What makes this number of champions so special, is that they were all owner/trained and handled. That is a state record for Florida. We have also titled more International champions than anyone else in the state, with 28 International champions in the last 2 years alone. Back to Q10

11. Besides being top breeders, we have raised the bar for competition in the conformation ring with training, conditioning and handling at the highest level. As part of the Partners Program, we bring in top-notch, high quality Labradors from reputable breeders and provide all our services to those dogs. This is all done with the "Betterment of the Breed in mind". Back to Q11

12. Yes, we are involved in many other events, including obedience, working certificates, the AKC's Canine Good Citizen program, UCI International Shows and tracking tests.

13. With the advent of shipping semen overnight from almost anywhere in the world, the ability to procure the absolute best stud dogs has become paramount in the quest for leaps and bound improvement to our gene pool. Of even greater importance, is the use of the Internet to acquire information on stud dogs and what they are producing right now! We no longer have to wait 8 or 10 years to see what a dog is capable of producing, now we see what a dog can produce before he is even 2 years old!! Our carefully selected females are paired up with compatible stud dogs to produce world-class puppies.

14. There are several ways to join the Partners Program. Most people enter Partners Program when they purchase a Show Potential Puppy and choose to participate in the various programs offered for the Betterment of the Breed. Some members are participating with a Labrador that they obtained from a top kennel and now want the best in conditioning, training and handling for their dog. There are some established breeders that have joined in order to be part of a winning program and bring about improvement and titles to their kennels. Back to Q14

15.Since 1985 and prior to 2001 we stayed mostly in the Florida area and had not traveled outside to either all-breed or to specialties. In 2001, the South Florida Labrador Retriever Club held its inaugural specialty and we supported the club with 25 of our Labradors there. As one of the founders of the SFLRC back in 1989, we have supported the entries each year that the club has been sanctioned to hold the event. Today, we travel into Georgia and South Carolina and show dogs at as many all-breeds that we can travel to. We hope to be attending the Greater Atlanta Labrador Retriever Club's specialties, now that they have moved away from the same weekend as the SFLRC event. Back to Q15

16. This is one of the most asked question that I receive from show breeders and exhibitors. As a breeder, I have been very fortunate to have had numerous bred-by dogs that were exceptional as described by the breed standard and they were also very successful as show dogs by earning their titles. I would have to mention one of our first champions, Ch Chambrays Indian Summer (1993) and her son Ch Chambrays Caleb (1995), followed by Caleb's grandson, Ch Chambrays Franco  as being among the exceptional dogs from our kennel. The top dog from Chambray has to be Summer's granddaughter, Ch Chambrays Chisholm Chancey CGC who had a brilliant show career with 9 Best of Breeds and 5 Group Placements PLUS, her contributions as a brood bitch will be hard to match, as she is the dam of 4 AKC champions. She also has 5 International champions to her credit. One of her daughters, Karley is ranked #1 from all Labradors in Florida in the 2004 Eukanuba Championship and her other daughter, Maddie is ranked the #1 Labrador in the Sporting Groups in Florida. Back to Q16

17. Great question! People assume that I only breed for yellow and that all our champions are yellows. Well, the truth be told, my favorite color in Labradors is the traditional black! Plus we have 2 black champions on our Wall of Fame, Ch Chambrays Silver Storm and Ch Chambrays Princess Kenya and we have 1 chocolate champion, Ch Chambrays Duchess. We now have several young black boys and girls that will be vying for points at the dog shows. Back to Q17
18. My sole purpose in breeding is to produce top-of-the-line, show competitive Labradors. Unlike other breeders, I do not keep the best from each litter, rather I find prospective show homes for these elite puppies. I want my best produce to go out to the dog shows and win! So much so, that I back these Show Potential puppies with a replacement guarantee if they do not turn out to be show competitive!!!!! I also include the most comprehensive amenities, guarantees and training package found anywhere in the world, plus we even offer our services in handling those dogs to their title.

So, I will place the best, I will guarantee them to be show competitive, I will provide a complete owners package and I will even handle the dogs to be winners. Back to Q18

19. You have a choice. When I first started with Labradors back in 1969, there were not too many places to go to learn about the breed, showing or training. It was every man for himself )or woman for herself. It took me years to really get going. I made many mistakes. I went backwards more often than forward. I vowed that if someday I was in a position to make a difference with the breed, that if I could help those to not make the mistakes that I made and waste the years that I did going through the learning process, well...... that's what the Partners Program is all about!

Helping beginners, intermediates and even working with advanced hobbyist for the betterment of the breed. To avoid the many mistakes made by those that have no guidance so that the breed prospers.

1969 to 2005 MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! So you have a choice when you purchase one of our puppies. You may draw on the 35 years experience with Labradors and get as much from the program as you need or as little as you need. Back to Q19
