The UCI International Dog Shows come to Florida twice a
year, in May and in October. They are sanctioned by the UCI German
Federation and feature the "European Style" of judging with written
conformation critiques by each judge for each dog that is showing. This gives the dog's owner
an opportunity to read up on what the dog's merits are or what the dog is
lacking in. Another major difference
between the International show format and the AKC's shows is that if the dog
receives the highest rating (V1's for adults) from 3 judges in the Open Classes and from 4
judges (SG1's) in the Puppy Classes, the dog is awarded the International Champion's
title. (For more information on the European Judging Style versus the AKC
style, see article
To Critique or Not To Critique )
One great advantage for the International style of showing is that the dogs actually receive more in-the-ring time training at these shows than they do
at the AKC shows, thus the dogs benefit more from the hands-on training that
takes place while being presented at these venues. Since 2 shows are run
back-to-back in 1 day, the dogs are also in a "show environment" the entire
day, giving them more practice. We highly recommend for
each of our Partners, co-owners and handling clients to participate at the
International level with their dogs
At the most recent International show, the action was none stop for Team
Herzon and for some of our partners at the shows held on May 7th and 8th.
Chambray & the Partners Dog Program was well represented with 9 Labradors
showing out of the 30+ present for each of the 4 shows. There
are 4 shows being conducted in the 2 days and hectic does not adequately
describe the pace of in and out of the rings. Below is a dog by dog account at
the 4 shows.
-
WinQuest Chambray Some Like it Hot
(Sammy) lived up to her name, as she was hotter than a chili pepper at the
shows this past weekend. Competing from the 3 to 6 Puppy Class with
Jessie Herzon as her handler, she was first in her class at all 4 shows.
She was awarded Best Of Breed
Puppy at show number 1 by
defeating the rest of the puppies age 3 to 18 months and then
won a Sporting Group 1.
Jessie and Sammy then competed at the highest level, Best In Show and
were awarded a
BEST IN SHOW PUPPY Reserve.
She received an
SG1's from each of the 4 judges,
thus achieving the International Jr. Champion's title.

(Hogan) continues to impress
the judges as he wins the 9 to 12 Jugend Class at all 4 shows. He
then wins Best of Puppy

He is awarded 4
SG1's
from the judges to achieve his title
