Miami Fl ~ 10/19/2011 ~ The 2010 record of winning an astonishing 54 Winners Dog & Winners Bitch awards by dogs from one kennel assuredly looked to stand the test of time. The previous record also set by Chambray was in 2008 with 29 WD/WB awards, so 2010 almost doubled the output!

How do the wins for 2011 compare to the astronomical 2010 mark? Below is the tale of the tape through the same month of October:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 08/29/2011

Cher Takes 1st Place Back and Helps Chambray Keep The Winning Streak Alive in "Hotlanta"

Miami Fl ~ 08/16 2011 There is the "Big Easy", there's "Motown", there's Miami the "Magic City" and Orlando a.k.a. "O-Town" and just to the north of Florida there is "Hotlanta", Atlanta GA the capitol city of the deep south.

This weekend in "Hotlanta", the searing hot streak of winning 42 consecutive dog show weekends was kept burning amber white and so was Cher's earth scorching path to finishing up the 2011 Eukanuba year as the Number 1 Grand Champion from Florida. The Eukanuba year ends the 1st week of October and Cher has been in the #1 spot all year long with the exception of the week from August 20th to August 27th when another dog from the Chambray lines overtook Cher momentarily.

Now it is a 2 horse race for top bragging rights with less than 6 weeks to go before the deadline, of course we would love of our flagship dog Cher to finish out on top. Cher is owned by Mary & Bob Jakeway, but either way a Chambray line dog will have the honors regardless of who owns the dog.

Cher blazed into the Atlanta shows and came out with a Best of Opposite Sex for 2 points and a Best Of Breed for a 4-point major over some of the hottest Labradors in the country including the #5, the #7 and the #13 in the country for Best Of Breed Rankings!

Meanwhile the Chambray AKC Dog Show Weekend Winning spree now spans 3 different year's worth starting in the fall of 2009, all of 2010 and now 8 months into 2011. This winning streak does not take into account some of the winning that individual dogs have accomplished going off to other venues on their own.

On another note; the present pace of winning for the 2011dog show season is decidedly ahead of the astronomical and record setting  numbers posted last year in 2010 with 54 Winners Bitch & Winners Dog wins by the end of the year in December.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 08/26/2011

Hurricane Irene!

Miami Fl ~ 08/26th 2011  Our Sincere Gratitude!

Thank God we are safe and sound! Thank you all for the hundreds of emails with concerns.

This past week has been traumatic to say the least for perhaps millions of people concerned with the impending path of Hurricane Irene starting down in the Caribbean and into the Atlantic off the mainland USA coast.

There are still millions more that could be impacted with a direct hit in the next couple of days.

To all of those, the Herzon family wishes you all safety and a quick return to your normal way of  life.

We were spared here in South Florida with minimal winds, some rain and a power failure that only lasted a couple of hours. Thank you to all the wonderful people from all over the world, especially the owners of Chambray dogs that have been sending their concerns and well wishes from across the country.

I am truly overcome with emotions with such an out pouring of concern and loyalty from so many. The truest test of loyalty is something that is demonstrated and not boasted about and hundreds of our loyal owners have demonstrated just that.

We are very concerned for the citizens of the Bahamas and other islands that have been severely affected. We have lost contact with a dozen or so of our dog owners both in the Bahamas and Puerto Rico. Please as soon as you all see your way clear of danger, send us an email letting us know that you, your families, belongings and dogs have faired well and are safe. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Thank you all again and please now send your thoughts and prayers to our neighboring states to the north as the Herzon family continues to do here.

Due to critical priorities here at home for the safety of our family, our home, the dogs that stay behind and even the dogs that would have traveled with us, we were forced to make the decision not to travel 800 miles plus up the east coast to the 4 days of the Atlanta dog shows. We regret any inconveniences this may have caused all those other folk that did make the trip to those shows, but with a looming threat such as this storm posed our immediate area, it was a simple decision as to what our choice would be.

Our thoughts and prayers are continuously with those in the path of the storm.

The Herzon family

N Counter Labradors: A New Kennel Name Is Forged With New Members
of Chambray and the Labrador Owners Community

Miami Fl ~ 08/16 2011 According to AKC rules and regulations, a kennel name may be applied for after 5 years of active involvement with dogs and at least 5 registered litters in 5 years.

Jessie Herzon founded the name N Counter Labradors back in 2001 as 12 year old when she named her first puppy Chambrays Chance N Counter (Connie). Since then she has co-bred at least 6 litters, one of which was Connie's first litter and Jessie was to also keep a puppy from that litter in 2007 which was named Chambrays Charmed N Counter. A subsequent litter by Connie produced Chambrays Eloquent N Counter (Ellie). In the fall of 2010, Ellie was bred to Gr Ch Gingerbred Celestial Thunder (Zeus) which produced several puppies including 2 females that were placed on a co-ownership with Olga and Juan Marrero of Miami Lakes.

Those 2 girls were named Chambrays First N Counter and Chambrays Celestial N Counter continuing on with the names Chambray and also N Counter. Now the Marrero's have added a 3rd puppy to their family and future Labrador kennel and have joined with Jessie on a long range co-venture partnership for the future using the name N Counter Labradors. The new puppy is a black male from WinQuest Chambray N Nick O Time, Nikki's latest litter that is a product of a pay back co-bred litter with Laffitte Labradors. That puppy will also sport all 3 kennel names as Chambrays Laffitte Stellar N Counter and hopefully will develop much as the 2 girls from Ellie's litter have done for the Marreros.

Since Jessie has decided to continue on with the use of Chambray Labradors as her breeding kennel name in the future, plans will call for
Ma and Pa Herzon to do a "family transfer" of Chambray Labradors to include Jessie as an owner with the eventuality of her manning the fort when the Herzons retire from breeding.

Welcome on board to Olga and Juan Marrero with your new partnership with Chambray & Jessie and the use of the new kennel name,
N Counter Labradors.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 07/21/2011

That's A Wrap For The Florida Dog Shows, Now A Summer Hiatus Till The End Of September,
Select Dogs To Travel To Other States. Training To Continue Throughout The Summer.

Miami, Fl ~ 07/21/2011 Just having completed the West Palm Beach dog shows this past weekend, most of the Chambray dogs will have some down time until the Florida dog shows resume on September 24th and 25th in Deland FL. Of course all of those dogs will continue their prescribed training and conditioning regimens in order to keep them in peak show shape. The training classes will resume on July 26th at the farm for all the local dogs, especially for those puppies from the Class of 2011.

Many of the new puppies from the Class of 2011 will be making their show debuts throughout the country. Several are now showing in Texas, New York, Mississippi, Alabama, South and North Carolina. We will be posting how they do at each of those shows as the owners report back to us.

  • Ch Chambrays Cadbury will join pro handler Kathy Mines in Connecticut and surrounding states for the 8 grand champion points he needs for that title and the eventual invitation to the 2011 Eukanuba Championships.

  • Chambray's Gordon will be touring through the southeastern states with pro handler Danny Sanchez,

  • will his littermate sister, Chambrays Diamond Destiny travels the NY and NJ states with her owners and pro handlers.

  • Our newest point winner, WinQuest Chambray Reaching For The Stars (Jake) will also do some of the southern states traveling with pro handler Dennis Williams.

The Silver Bullet (and of course the Herzons) will take a trek up I-75 into Atlanta GA for 4 days of shows on August 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th with a select group of contenders. There is a great opportunity for major pointed shows those 4 days, so the plan is to take some of those dogs that need majors to finish their championship. Several youngsters will also make the trip, with a couple making their AKC debut. Meeting us up in Atlanta will be our flagship dog, Gr Ch Chambrays And The Beat Goes On, continuing her quest to stay on top of the #1 spot of Grand Champion from Florida.

So, while the majority of our dogs take a break from the show action, there will be some that will remain out on the front lines vying for those elusive winners points. Good luck to all.

Reaching For The Stars Plus Winning Streak Extended To 41 Dog Shows Weekends @ WPB Dog Shows

West Palm Beach, Fl ~ 07/17/2011 Seven month old WinQuest Chambrays Reaching For The Stars (Jake) lived up to his namesake by equaling a benchmark that only one other puppy his age had ever risen to, winning a major-pointed show, making them the youngest puppies to do so! Four year's ago, it would be Chambrays Charmed N Counter that would set the mark as the youngest puppy to win a 3-pt major, now Jake matches that feat at the same age. The record tying accomplishment also extends Chambrays winning streak to 41 consecutive dog show weekends of winning.

For extra measures Chambrays Emerald N The Ruff also wins a 3-pt major at Sunday's show, giving her a total of 15 points with 1 major. This win puts Emmie in sole possession of 1st place at the Class Dog's Ranking For Championship Points, nosing out Chambrays Summer Breeze (Hanna) who has 13 points and 1 major to her credit. This win by Emmie now creates a 1 major win situation for her and for Hanna to become Chambray's 28th/29th Home-bred champion and the 4th/5th champion in 1 year from 1 breeder, both of which would be a state record.

Gr Ch Chambrays And The Beat Goes On (Cher) garners 1 Best Of Opposite Sex and 1 Select Bitch award, giving her a total of 5 Grand champion points for the weekend.

Three different dogs were very close to the points with Reserve Winner's ribbons; Chambrays Maya, Chambrays Harley and Chambrays Louie all walked away with the bi-colored RWD and RWB awards.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 07/04/2011

Fireworks Expected With Debut Of Class Of 2011 Puppies At West Palm Beach July 16/17

Miami Fl ~ 07/04/2011 WinQuest Chambray Reaching For The Stars (Jake), debuted at the Palmetto Dog Shows on June 18th with a spectacular Best Labrador Puppy & Group 4 placement and then followed that awesome start with a Reserve Winners Dog the day after
at Sunday's show. The following weekend he continued his winning ways with another Reserve Winners Dog at the Orlando dog shows and a Best Labrador Puppy at the Purina's Breeders Showcase.

Coming up soon is the WPB dog shows on July 16/17 and he will be joined by 4 more outstanding puppies from the Class of 2011 that
will be adding more fire power to our already formidable roster of show dogs.

The 4 debutantes are all from the Celestial n Counter Litter (Gr Ch Gingerbred Celestial Thunder X Chambrays Eloquent N Counter).
Three of those puppies, Chambrays First N Counter (f), Chambrays Celestial N Counter (f) and Chambrays Smoke N Fire (m) have already impressed the judges with all three winning a Best Puppy In Show at the IABCA dogs shows back in May as 3 month olds. They will be
joined by their littermate sister from Texas, Chambrays Gabrielle's Quest who is here in Florida for 2 months of intensive training and showing.

Making this an all important last show of the first half of the 2011 Florida Dog Show Season is that there are enough dogs entered to make it a Major Pointed show for the females. The males can also achieve a major win by crossing over the female's winner. There are several of our dogs that can finish their championships by winning 1 or both days.

  • Chambrays WinQuest Summer Breeze (Hanna) showing from the Bred By Exhibitor Class needs 1 major win to finish out.

  • Chambrays Sunny Daze, Chambrays Aslan, Chambrays Stella's Desire and Chambrays Emerald In The Ruff all need 2 majors to champion out.

If any of these dogs finishes out this coming show, it would give Chambray Labrador sole possession of the state record with 4 new champions in 1 year, as already we have had 3 dogs finish so far this year with Ch WinQuest Chambrays Cadbury, Ch Chambrays Bailey
On The Rocks and Ch Chambrays Lady Scarlet.

Ch WinQuest Chambrays Cadbury also can finish out his AKC Grand Champion's title this coming weekend of shows with 2 Best Of Breeds for a total of 8 points, which is exactly what he needs to fulfill the required 25 points as he now stands with 17 points, 3 majors and 3 wins over competition. Cadbury's Grand Championship will give him an invitation to the 2011 Eukanuba Championships in Orlando.

Gr Ch Chambrays And The Beat Goes On can add to her Florida #1 Grand Champion status by picking up anywhere's from 6 to 8 points by winning Best Of Breeds, Best Of Opposite Sex or Select Champion female.

The 2011 Eukanuba Championship, already having received their invitations are:

  • BIS Ch Chambrays Out Of The Ruff

  • Gr Ch Chambrays And The Beat Goes On

  • Gr Ch Chambrays  Charmed N Counter

  • Ch Chambrays Bailey On The Rocks

other possible qualifiers are

  • Chambrays Summer Breeze (needs major pt-win)

  • Ch WinQuest Chambray Cadbury (needs 8 gr ch pts)

Wow, what a great finale for the 1st half of the season this weekend of shows promises to be:

  • With the champion's title race to the finish line for 5 of our dogs,

  • the Grand Champions #1 status on the line and the making of another grand champion.

  • Eukanuba qualifiers on the line with the deadline looming the first week in October

  • the debut of 4 more Class 2011 puppies

We expect explosive fireworks galore for this all important dog show at West Palm Beach!

It's A Horse Race To The AKC Champion's Finish Line

Miami, FL ~ 04/26/2011 ~There are now 11 horses in the Chambray Race To The AKC Champion's Finish Line!

There are 8 month's left worth of dog shows in 2011 and the race has tightened up considerably between 11 of Chambrays
premiere show dogs for the honor of being the 26th Home-bred AKC champion.

Leading the pack by a head is Chambrays Bailey On The Rocks with 14 points and 1 Major win and 2 Best Of Breeds to his credit.
Nipping at his heels is Chambrays Lady Scarlet of the Ribbons with 13 points, 1 Major and 1 BOB.
Just a half length behind is Chambrays Summer Breeze (Hanna) with 12 points 1 Major, 2 Best Of Breeds and the only Bred-By Exhibitor
Best In Show in our history by a Chambray-bred dog!

All three of these dogs can flash across the finish line by winning 1 more Major-pointed show and step into the winners circle of Chambray champions!

Within striking distance of the 3 leaders and 2 lengths behind is the  super star of the Class of 2009, Chambrays Emerald In The Ruff with 12 single points (no majors), 1 Best Of Breed and a Best Puppy In Show! Emmi would need to win 2 Major-pointed shows to champion out and edge the leaders for the supreme title of AKC champion.

From the Class of 2007 and one of the 5 Divas is Chambrays Stella (10 points, no majors) also needs 2 Major-pointed wins to dash across the coveted champion's finish line. Stella has come on strong in the last months with several wins to her credit and hopefully will take this winning spree all the way across the finish line.

In a dead heat, neck to neck are 3 of Chambrays finest from the Class of 2007 with 9 points each and 1 Major win, each needs to win a Major and some singles to land in the promise land of 15 points and 2 majors; those dogs are Chambrays Handsome Island Boy Louie, WinQuest Chambray N Nick O Time and WinQuest Chambray Jewel In The Ruff. Handsome Island Boy Louie just posted 3 back-to-back winning shows to boost him past several top contenders. He too has a full head of steam and could very likely scoot past those at the home stretch sliding past the current leaders at the front end of the pack!

Half a length back in another dead heat and coming on strong are 2 of our Class of 2010 meteoric shooting stars, Chambrays Aslan (Fantastic 4 Litter) and Chambrays Rum Tum Tugger, each with 9 points (no majors) and each with 2 Best of Breeds. Actually Tugger edges Aslan out by a whisker with 2 Sporting Group Placements to 1 for Aslan! Each of these boys have the strength and pedigree to make a huge surge and create a photo finish at the wire.

Still in the hunt and a real dark horse, both in color and with an outside chance to whiz by the leaders is Chambrays Curious George with 8 Points and both majors, lacking either 7 single pointed wins or 2 major-pointed wins of 3 & 4 points to stretch a neck past the leaders and into the champion's circle!

There are other strong contender dogs with points chomping at the bit for winners points in the horse race as well as a whole new crew of youngsters ready to go to the starting gate for Chambray, the newest addition to the betterment of the breed the puppies from the new Class of 2011.

Kissimmee Fl. - 10/02/2010 - The IABCA International Dog Shows that travel down to Florida on a semi-annual basis, provides the perfect
venue for all of Chambrays and the Labrador Owners Community puppies and young dogs to debut in a very dog-friendly and super relaxed
atmosphere for the owners as well.

The lineup of dogs for our group is an invitation only event, with the absolute best youngsters 3 months to 18 months receiving the special
invitation to participate. This special gathering of our up and coming show stars gives the Herzons and excellent opportunity to evaluate
conformation and performance to help decide which dogs will be better suited for the added rigors of AKC competition.

Every 6 month, in May and again in October the most promising of our newest class of puppies/owners are prepared in advance with training
and conditioning and then the cream of the crop are sent the special invitation for the 2 days with 4 shows of competition. Out of the 38 puppies
from the Class of 2010, 18 were invited and 13 actually signed up and made the trek to Kissimmee Fl.

Once again, as has happened every 6 months for the last 7 years, the puppies and dogs from Chambray Labradors dominated the big wins
from the Labrador and from the Sporting Groups and for the 27th through 32nd time in those 7 years, coming away with either a
BEST IN SHOW or RESERVE BEST IN SHOW!!!!

Congratulations to all the owners that made the trip with their dogs and also to those that could not go but sent their dogs with the Herzons
in the Silver Lab Limo!!!!!! We received the highest commendations from the judges as well as many of the other breeder/exhibitors with other
breeds of dogs.
