In Action With K9 Therapy Dogs
is a student-based organization aiming to serve the
community
while spending
time with man's best friend.

Overview
Requirements
-
Being a student enrolled in
a high school or college/university.
-
Minimum age 16 years old.
-
Willing to volunteer their
time.
Students Claim to Fame
Students will gain/achieve:
1.
Community Service hours for the events
they volunteer at.
a. Amount
of Hours received depends on:
i. The
level the handler/dog team achieves.
2.
Being a member of a well known
organization, Therapy Dogs Incorporated.
3.
Registering a dog as a therapy dog.
4.
Increasing their leadership skills
5.
Having the opportunity to serve the
community and work in schools.
6.
Be apart of with K9 for Kids reading
program.
Our Mission
1. Volunteer at the AKC’s
Responsible Dog Ownership Day Match on September 21.
2. Certify our own dogs to
become K9K Teams for the K9 for Kids Reading Program.
3. Go through
the process to obtain TDInc. registration for the Therapy Dog team
for participation in the program.
4. Having the
opportunity to serve the community with hospital and other medical
facilities with
Therapy registered dogs
6. Create a website
All
dogs participating in this organization must be registered with Therapy
Dogs Inc.
Two pathways to success
Students will have the option to
choose from these two pathways.

Register your own dog.
-
Registering a dog provided
by Chambray Labradors at no charge.
Pathway 1
Students registering their own dogs.
Level 1 –
Register with Therapy Dogs Inc.
1.
The dog must be well behaved in all sorts of settings.
2.
Must have control over the dog at all
times.
3.
Must have an evaluation done by a Therapy
Dog Inc evaluator and 3 test observations of which 2 must
be at a medical setting as required by Therapy Dog Inc.
Students
registering their own dogs will have the option to continue to level
2 or stay at level 1.
Level
2 – Certifying with K-9 for Kids
1.
Attend Chambray’s 8 week Basic
Obedience Class
2.
Pass the CGC test after the 8 week
class
3.
Pass an evaluation by a K9K for Kids

Pathway
2
Students certifying a dog
supplied by Chambray Labradors at no charge.
1.
Students will be paired with a dog
to registered.
2.
Will take the 8 weeks obedience
class.
Level 1 –
Register with Therapy Dogs Inc.
